The New England Patriots are holding a 17-3 lead over the Washington Redskins at the break in their NFL clash at Gillette Stadium.
The Patriots took the lead on their first possession when Tom Brady completed a series of passes before he threw a short strike to Julian Edelman to beat a tackle and raid into the endzone.
New England attempted an onside kick and gathered the ball to reclaim possession immediately, but a fumble from Edelman handed the ball back to the Redskins. However, Washington quarterback Kirk Cousins was then intercepted by Logan Ryan to regain possession for the Patriots.
Bill Belichick's men extended their advantage when Brady handed off to LeGarrette Blount, and the back found enough space in the line to plow over for a five-yard touchdown.
The home side spurned an opportunity to put points on the board when Brady was intercepted by Keenan Robinson, but the Redskins failed to reply with a score to bring themselves back into the game.
The teams exchanged field goals at the end of the half as Stephen Gostkowski and Kai Forbath both made close-range kicks to leave the Patriots' advantage at 14 points.
