Tom Brady has said that the New England Patriots played "pretty poorly" during their 40-9 defeat to the Detroit Lions last night.
The AFC East champions lost three fumbles early in the game, while the starting quarterback threw an interception.
Speaking at a press conference after the game, the 36-year-old said: "We just didn't play good. This is what happens when you don't play well. I think we all played pretty poorly.
"Anytime you lose the way we lost, it's really as a collective team effort. We didn't do anything in the first half other than turn the ball over. You're not going to score points in the NFL unless you string together a bunch of big plays.
"[The Lions] have a great front. I mean, they have some guys that can really rush the quarterback and put a lot of pressure on the ball. They are a good football team and if you don't play well against a good football team you get results like we got tonight."
The Patriots will play their final pre-season game next week against the New York Giants.
