A late Stephen Gostkowski field goal helps the New England Patriots win 27-26 against the New York Giants to keep their perfect season alive.

The New England Patriots needed a late field goal to beat the New York Giants 27-26 and remain undefeated on the season this evening.

The Patriots took the lead as quarterback Tom Brady found Scott Chandler in the endzone for the touchdown, which made it the 32nd quarter in a row that New England put up points - a new NFL record.

New York made a statement soon after as Eli Manning played it to Odell Beckham Jr, who took it 87 yards across the goalline to tie the game with the longest passing play against a Bill Belichick-led Patriots.

Stephen Gostkowski and Josh Brown then traded field goals as both teams struggled to find the endzone during the first half.

However, with a minute to go until the break, Manning led the Giants down the field and connected with Dwayne Harris for a one-yard touchdown and the lead as they headed into half time.

In the third quarter, Brown nailed his second field goal of the day as the Giants went up 10 points, the largest deficit that the Patriots have faced so far this season.

Danny Amendola looked to have scored a punt return as he ran clear but he was tripped up by his own teammate at the seven-yard line.

It did not stop the Patriots from scoring moments later as LeGarrette Blount forced his way into the endzone to make it a three-point game.

Brown remained perfect with a 53-yard field goal to give the Giants a six-point lead as they moved into the fourth quarter.

Brady then fumbled the football as Markus Kuhn came up with possession, but New York failed to extend their lead after the turnover.

The Patriots quarterback then made them pay as he found Rob Gronkowski for a 76-yard touchdown, the longest play in the tight end's career as he put his team back in front.

Brandon LaFell caught a pass for 54 yards on the next offensive possession for New England but Trumaine McBride picked off Brady in the endzone as he tried to get the ball to LaFell.

The Giants would punish that mistake as they strode down the field and Brown hit another three points to give the home side a two-point lead with less than two minutes remaining.

Landon Collins dropped a late interception and that proved costly, as Brady drove into Giants territory and Gostkowski nailed a 54-yard field goal to win the game.

The win makes the Patriots 9-0 on the season while the Giants drop to 5-5 yet remain at the top of the NFC East.
