The general manager of the New York Jets John Idzik has praised head coach Rex Ryan as "phenomenal" following the latter's signing a new contract with the franchise.
The Jets confirmed earlier on Thursday that the head coach would continue, with Idzik saying that Ryan was perfect for the organisation.
"Rex is a phenomenal teacher and motivator," he told the club's official website. "We are fortunate to have him as our head coach.
"The front office, coaches, players, this entire organisation - we're all in this together. We are all governed by the same motives and that is to build a perennial winner here with the Jets."
The Jets improved in 2013, but still missed out on the playoffs with their 8-8 record.
