New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan has stated that he still doesn't know who will be his side's starting quarterback next season but admitted that Geno Smith did play well at the end of the 2013 campaign.
Smith was thrust into the starting role when Mark Sanchez sustained a campaign-ending shoulder injury during the pre-season, and struggled for consistency during his rookie year after being selected in the second round of the 2013 Draft.
"Well, we'll never say without question because as you know anything in this league can happen," Ryan told ProFootballTalk.com.
"So we'll let it play out and see what happens but certainly I think he played well, especially down the stretch."
The 23-year-old threw for 12 touchdowns and 21 interceptions in his 16 games during the 2013 season.
