Muhammad Wilkerson has said that he is being "underpaid" on his rookie contract with the New York Jets.
The AFC East side drafted the defensive end in the first round in 2011, leaving him with another year on his rookie deal with an option for a fifth season in 2015.
The 24-year-old, who is due to earn a base salary of $1.2m (£706,000) in 2014, told the New York Daily News: "Do I feel that I'm underpaid right now? Yeah, but that's part of the business.
"My time will come when I get a new contract. But right now I'm just worried about becoming a better player, a better teammate and a better leader."
Wilkerson made 63 tackles, 10.5 sacks, two forced fumbles and an interception last year.
