New Washington Redskins wide receiver DeSean Jackson has reiterated that he is not affiliated with any gang, despite reports to the contrary.

Jackson was released by the Philadelphia Eagles last week just hours after a report on NJ.com alleged that he had links to a Los Angeles gang.

The 27-year-old was quick to deny the rumours when they initially surfaced and stressed his point again today, claiming that he knew people involved with gangs but was not affiliated with any himself.

"I actually got a chance to hear about [the NJ.com report] before it came out. Got a call before it came out. My agent called. How I feel about NJ.com? From my point of view, it was very disrespectful. I don't think it was right - straight up," Jackson told ESPN.

"Do I know people who are involved? Yes. I'm definitely aware and know certain gang members. But as far as being affiliated, never have one been. I've always felt I've been a product of my environment, but I've always felt I've wanted to do things the right way."

The NFL Players' Association has confirmed that they will look into the situation regarding Jackson's release from the Eagles.
