Michael Vick has said that he accepts his role as backup quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles for the rest of the 2012 NFL season.
The 32-year-old has missed the last month with a concussion, resulting in Nick Foles being promoted to the starting lineup.
Vick told the Philadelphia Daily News: "I'm a competitor, and I've always felt like and will continue to feel like I'm one of the best and can play at a high level. I want to be out there.
"I want to play, but it's just not the ideal situation right now. I have to accept my role, accept it like a man, continue to find positives out of it.
"I have a lot of football left in me, a lot left in my tank, the future will take care of itself."
This is likely to be Vick's last season with the Eagles, as the franchise can release him without cutting into next year's salary cap.
