Pittsburgh Steelers kicker Garrett Hartley was forced out of the team's pre-season game against the Buffalo Bills after picking up a hamstring injury.
The former New Orleans Saints player joined the team earlier this month after regular kicker Shaun Suisham was ruled out for the season with a torn ACL.
Head coach Mike Tomlin confirmed after the game that the 29-year-old will need a scan, but it seems likely that he will miss the opening game of the regular season against the New England Patriots.
Hartley ended last season with the Cleveland Browns after being released by the Saints in 2013 following a five-year spell.
