Pittsburgh Steelers outside linebacker Jarvis Jones has been released from hospital after an X-ray on his injured chest came back negative.
Jones picked up the injury in a tackle having made a 22-yard interception return during his side's 26-20 overtime loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.
The 23-year-old rookie was examined on the field before leaving the stadium on a stretcher and being taken to hospital as a precaution.
The full extent of the injury is as yet unknown, but the Steelers are hopeful that Jones will be available for the opening match of the regular season against the Tennessee Titans on September 8.
Jones was a first-round pick in this year's draft, being selected 17th overall.
