Keenan Allen has revealed that he came close to quitting the San Diego Chargers after his first game with the team.
The wide receiver, who has set a new rookie record of five 100-yard receiving games this year, was left on the sidelines for the team's opening game of the season.
The 21-year-old told U-T San Diego: "After I didn't play after that first game. I was about another snap away of not playing from quitting.
"'I need help. I'm losing. I'm about to quit'. [I wasn't] living up to my expectations of starting. I've never been a role player-type guy. Not easy at all. I've never had to do it before. I never had to adjust."
Allen, who was selected in the third round of this year's Draft, has 957 receiving yards and eight touchdowns in his first season in the NFL.
