The San Diego Chargers have announced that Dwight Freeney has signed a two-year contract with the team.
The linebacker has been a free agent since the Indianapolis Colts confirmed that they would not be re-signing him.
Head coach Mike McCoy told the team's official website: "It's great to add a solid veteran who brings valuable experience to our defense. His proven pass-rush ability is a perfect fit for our defense."
Freeney made just 12 tackles in 2012.
