Half-Time Report: Chandler Catanzaro puts Arizona Cardinals ahead

Chandler Catanzaro kicks two field goals to give the Arizona Cardinals a 6-3 half-time lead over the San Francisco 49ers.

Two field goals from Arizona Cardinals kicker Chandler Catanzaro have given the NFC West leaders a 6-3 advantage over the San Francisco 49ers at half time in their NFL clash at the Levi's Stadium.

Both sides failed to score on their opening possessions, but the Cardinals edged ahead midway through the first quarter when Catanzaro kicked a 26-yard field goal after Larry Fitzgerald had been unable to hold on for a touchdown.

Blaine Gabbert tried to respond for the 49ers, firing a deep pass towards Quinton Patton, but the wide receiver was beaten to the ball by Tyrann Mathieu, who returned his interception 15 yards.

However, the visitors had to settle for another field goal as a John Brown touchdown was chalked off because the receiver was out of bounds before making the catch, leaving Catanzaro to kick the ball through from 41 yards out.

The 49ers got the ball again late in the second quarter, looking to avoid being shut out in the first half, but Mathieu tackled Anquan Boldin short, forcing the home side to go for a 53-yard field goal, but Phil Dawson made the distance to cut Arizona's lead in half.
