The Cleveland Browns have a trade deal allowing Colt McCoy to join the San Francisco 49ers.
The Browns have given up the quarterback and their sixth-round pick in this year's draft in exchange for the 49ers' fifth and seventh-round choices.
McCoy lost his starting role with the Browns to Brandon Weeden in 2012, featuring in just three games.
The 26-year-old is expected to act as backup to Colin Kaepernick following the departure from San Francisco of Alex Smith.
