The Michigan Wolverines are reportedly close to hiring Jim Harbaugh as their head coach once the San Francisco 49ers' season comes to an end.
Harbaugh played for the Wolverines during his time in the college game, spending four years with the team in Ann Arbor before beginning his NFL career.
The 51-year-old allegedly had a disagreement with 49ers general manager Trent Baalke earlier in the off-season and reports speculated that the fall out would lead to his exit from the club.
Harbaugh is expected to meet with the Wolverines following the end of his side's match against the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday, while the Oakland Raiders still hold a hope of speaking with him in a bid to convince him to become their next head coach, reports NFL Network.
The 49ers missed the playoffs for the first time in Harbaugh's four-year tenure with the club, after never failing to reach the NFC championship game in his first three seasons.
