Two-time Super Bowl champion Phil Simms has said that Andrew Luck's first NFL game against the San Francisco 49ers will be "exciting".
The Indianapolis Colts quarterback played under 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh, who was also a Colts passer during his playing career, at Stanford.
Simms, who now works as a TV commentator, told the 49ers' official website: "If I was going against my old coach, it would be exciting
"I couldn't wait to beat him. There's a certain sense of pride. It's almost like playing your brother in sports, how much you want to beat him. It's going to be fun to watch.
"I think Jim has a rivalry with whoever they're playing. I love that about him. That's the way he played and that's the way he coaches. It translates well on the field."
The two teams both have one win and one defeat from their first two games of the season.
