San Francisco 49ers first-round Draft pick Jimmie Ward has been cleared to take part in his side's training camp following an injury, according to a report in the press.
CSN states that surgery to repair the fifth metarsal bone in Ward's right foot has been a success, with the player also not appearing on the team's list of players physically unable to perform.
Ward was selected as the 30th overall pick in the Draft and is expected to provide competition for Antoine Bethea and Eric Reid in defense.
The new NFL season is due to get underway on September 4.
