Seattle Seahawks' Michael Bennett has claimed that his side's defensive unit is the best in the history of the sport.
The Seahawks had the number one defensive record in the NFL over the 2013 regular season, but saved their best performance for the Super Bowl, manhandling the Denver Broncos' record-breaking offense on their way to a 43-8 win last night.
The Broncos had broken all kinds of offensive records throughout the 2013 campaign but had no answer for the Seahawks, prompting Bennett to proclaim that his side's defense eclipsed even legendary outfits such as the 1985 Chicago Bears.
"We are the best defence ever. We could have played anybody today and have done the same thing," the defensive end told reporters after the match.
"We were mad at the eight points we gave up. But that's what makes us so great."
The victory gave the Seahawks their first ever Vince Lombardi trophy.
