Jeff Fisher: 'Sam Bradford will be back next season'

St Louis Rams head coach Jeff Fisher believes that injured quarterback Sam Bradford should fully recover by the start of next season.

St Louis Rams head coach Jeff Fisher has backed Sam Bradford to be ready for the start of next season having seen his current campaign cut short by injury.

Bradford was ruled out for the remainder of the 2013 season with a torn ACL that he suffered when landing awkwardly during the Rams' 30-15 loss to the Carolina Panthers on Sunday.

Fisher admits that he was disappointed for Bradford, but believes that his first-choice quarterback will be fully recovered in time for the 2014 season.

"There's no reason to think otherwise. I'm not going to make a soap opera out of the thing, but he's going to have his surgery and he's going to rehab and he's going to push through the off-season, and when he's ready, he'll be ready, but there's no reason to expect otherwise," ESPN quotes Fisher as saying.

"I'm especially disappointed for Sam just because of the work and the effort and the progress he's made. He was off to a great start so it was unfortunate but he'll be back. He's our quarterback."

Kellen Clemens is likely to replace Bradford as the starting quarterback for the rest of the season as the only other option on either the active roster or the practice squad.
