Rookie wide receiver Tavon Austin scored three touchdowns for the St Louis Rams to help them cruise to victory over the Indianapolis Colts in the NFL.
The Rams took the lead through their defense as Robert Quinn rushed off the edge, beating tackle Anthony Castonzo, and he knocked the ball out of Andrew Luck's hand, allowing Chris Long to pick it up and run it in for the 45-yard touchdown.
Jeff Fisher's side doubled their advantage following a fumble in the previous possession, but running back Zac Stacy did not make the same mistake twice as he coasted in for the one-yard score powering through the middle of the line.
It was to get better for the Rams as they went further ahead when Austin collected Pat McAfee's punt at his own two-yard line and he ran the length of the field dodging several tackles to go in for the 98-yard touchdown.
Austin scored again when six minutes remaining in the half when quarterback Kellen Clemens fired to him on a go route, and he beat his man and ran all the way into the end zone for the 57-yard score.
After the break, Austin got his third touchdown of the game, this time on a crossing route and Clemens fired the ball to him and he ran 81 yards for the score pat several defenders to increase his side's lead to 35 points.
Luck was enduring a tough afternoon and he missed a chance to bring his side back when he threw an interception in the end zone and the Rams made him pay for this error by adding another three points to their score when Greg Zuerlein kicked a 32-yard field goal through the posts.
The Colts finally got on the board late in the third quarter when Luck fired to running back Donald Brown on a checkdown and he ran into the end zone for a 12-yard score. He then picked out Coby Fleener for a two-point conversion to make it 35-8, which is how the game ended.
