Washington Redskins coach Jay Gruden has insisted that Robert Griffin III remains the franchise's starting quarterback.
Griffin is currently sidelined with an ankle injury, but Gruden will not keep Colt McCoy in the lineup when he makes his return.
"We went into training camp and did all the OTAs with Robert Griffin as our starter, so when Robert's back, Robert's our starter," Gruden told reporters.
"That hasn't changed. I haven't varied off of that or wavered off of that."
Gruden refused to comment on when Griffin will make his return, but after the medical staff evaluated him on Monday he failed to be passed fit and missed his sixth consecutive game.
