Robert Griffin III: 'Learning new system hasn't been that tough'

Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III admits that learning his side's new offensive system hasn't been as difficult as he thought it would be.

Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III has revealed that the transition to his side's new style of offense has been a simple one for him.

The Redskins hired Jay Gruden to become their new head coach in the off-season to replace Mike Shanahan and, as a result, the club's offensive system has been adjusted slightly.

However, Griffin has admitted that a lot of the terminology used between Gruden's style and former offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan's system is more or less the same.

"I think having two years' experience running an offense, a pro-level offense, west coast type, this is very similar," Griffin told the Washington Post.

"So it's not been as tough as you might think. But all the concepts translate over. They might be called something different. But the reads are similar.

"It's just about the philosophy of the coach. Jay has a little bit different philosophy. We'll find out what that is on Sundays."

The 24-year-old threw for 3,203 yards and 16 touchdowns to 12 interceptions in the 2013 season.
