Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III has insisted that his relationship with team owner Dan Snyder was not an issue last season.

Griffin was reportedly unhappy with a number of decisions made by former head coach Mike Shanahan in regards to his recovery from a knee operation in January, while Shanahan himself is understood to have thought that Griffin and Snyder were too close.

However, the 24-year-old claims that he abided by all of the decisions made by the coaching staff and does not believe that Snyder would have done anything to harm the progress of the team.

"I don't think it's been an issue at all. Dan didn't do anything to impede anything the coaches were trying to do. Coach made the decisions and we all abided by those decisions," Griffin is quoted as saying by ESPN.

"Coach said I couldn't practice in OTAs, I didn't practice in OTAs. Coach said I couldn't practice at the beginning of training camp, I didn't practice at the beginning of training camp. Dan is an owner that's all for his team.

"He wants us to win and that's why he's dishing out the cheques. He's the guy that's gotten these guys here, empowering [general manager] Bruce Allen and [head coach] Jay Gruden to get the players to help us win."

The Redskins endured a dismal 2013 campaign, winning just three games all year after finishing top of the NFC East in 2012.
