Habjan Malavasic has suggested that overcoming Juan Ignacio Rodriguez at the round-of-16 stage in the men's individual archery event at Baku 2015 will provide him with great confidence.
The 22-year-old, who is representing Slovakia at the first ever European Games, defeated his Spanish opponent 7-1 at the Tofiq Bahramov Stadium on Monday morning to progress through.
Despite being ranked down at number 56 in the world, Malavasic is keen to continue building up his experience in an attempt to pull off a shock victory.
"This match I was really confident and I just wanted to shoot my shots well," he told reporters. "I'm really happy, because I wasn't as nervous as the [round-of-32 stage]. I was really able to focus on my technique and make good shots.
"That was my main goal - to go out there and get some more experience in front of the cameras, and this match went even better than the last one."
Great Britain's Kieran Slater also remains in contention, having overcome Yagiz Yilmaz of Turkey in his second eliminations match.
