Alejandro Garnacho has allegedly earned a recall to the Manchester United squad for Thursday's EFL Cup quarter-final against Tottenham Hotspur, but Marcus Rashford has seemingly been left out once again.

Neither Garnacho nor Rashford were in the squad for the Manchester derby on Sunday, with the pair instead training at Carrington on the morning of what proved to be a 2-1 success for the 20-time English champions.

Amorim left out the pair due to underwhelming performances in training, while he also claimed that the duo had not been behaving in the proper manner around the Carrington training complex.

Speaking during his press conference on Wednesday, Amorim said that he would make a final decision over the attacking pair's involvement against Tottenham once the final training session ahead of the match had been completed.

The situation has been complicated by the fact that Rashford told journalist Henry Winter on Tuesday that he was "ready for a new challenge and the next steps".

Garnacho back in Man United squad vs. Tottenham

As reported by the Manchester Evening News, Garnacho has been recalled to the squad, with the Argentina international meeting with his teammates on Wednesday afternoon for the trip down to London.

However, the report claims that there was no sign of Rashford, with the England international 'unaccounted for', suggesting that he will again not be involved for the Red Devils.

Noussair Mazraoui had emerged as a doubt for the clash with Spurs due to the issue that forced him off against Man City, but the Morocco international is allegedly in the squad for the clash with Ange Postecoglou's side.

Jonny Evans is also believed to have made the trip to London, with the experienced centre-back available for selection once again following a recent issue, but Mason Mount and Luke Shaw are both on the sidelines.

Will Rashford play for Man United again?

When asked whether he wanted Rashford to stay during his press conference on Wednesday, Amorim said: "Of course, because this kind of club needs big talent and he's a big talent, so he just needs to perform at the highest level and that is my focus. I just want to help Marcus."

However, it is believed that Man United are open to selling Rashford in January, with an offer of £40m believed to be enough to convince the club to let him leave in the middle of the campaign.

If, as expected, Rashford has been left out against Tottenham, then it will be fascinating to see whether he is back in the squad against Bournemouth in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.

Should the 27-year-old miss out on both matches, then it might well be that he has played his last game for Man United, with Paris Saint-Germain regarded as the favourites to sign him.

Confirmed United squad members vs. Tottenham:

Onana, Bayindir, Heaton, Dalot, Mazraoui, Yoro, De Ligt, Maguire, Lindelof, Evans, Martinez, Malacia, Ugarte, Casemiro, Fernandes, Eriksen, Mainoo, Antony, Garnacho, Zirkzee, Hojlund, Amad
