England sprinter Louise Bloor admits that there is "plenty of room for improvement" for the 4x100m relay team following today's heats at the Commonwealth Games.

Team England sprinter Louise Bloor has admitted that there is plenty of room for improvement from the relay squad following today's qualifying heats at the Commonwealth Games.

England made it through to tomorrow night's final at Hampden Park with a time of 43.33s, although it wasn't all plain sailing as a baton exchange between Bloor and Ashleigh Nelson almost cost the team a place in the showpiece event.

Bloor admitted that the exchange, which came between the third and fourth legs of the race, was "a bit risky", but she was happy overall to have got the baton around safely in the end.

"It was a nice, good running squad. Nice to get the baton round safely in the end. It was a bit risky on the third baton pass, pushing toward getting to the box, but we got the baton round safely and in a good time and there's plenty of room for improvement," she told Sports Mole.

"I was running in confidently into Ashleigh, she thought it was a bit too far out so she put her hand out and I obviously wasn't expecting her hand to go out [that early].

"But by putting her hand out we were able to slow it down and get the baton round safely so it's all turned out really good in the end and I've got confidence in the girls so a brilliant performance overall."

Bloor also insisted that England can beat the Jamaicans when they meet in the final tomorrow night.
