England's Jades Jones admits that she has no memory of winning a bronze medal at the Commonwealth Games.

England bronze medallist Jade Jones has revealed that she blacked out for the duration of Thursday's T54 1,500m race at the Commonwealth Games.

The 18-year-old won her first ever senior medal after finishing third in the event, but Jones admits that she has no memory of the encounter.

"It hasn't sunk in yet. I don't remember anything of the actual race. I remember being on the start-line and being scared of the crowd," she told BBC Sport.

"I always get nervous but the support was incredible. It follows you round the track and picks you up."

Jones, who was born without a femur, is coached by 11-time Paralympic champion Tanni Grey-Thompson, and the teenager has hailed the "incredible" influence of the veteran.

"I was 12 when, in 2008, I met Tanni Grey-Thompson, now my coach, and she asked me if I wanted to try it out. It was different and at first I didn't really like it," Jones added.

"I had always walked with a prosthetic or crutches. I went to a mainstream school and had never seen disability sport before. But after a while I realised I wasn't bad and came to love it.

"Having Tanni as a role model has been incredible, she has been there for me, and after the race she got to present me with my medal, which was amazing."

Canada's Diane Roy took silver in the race, while Angela Ballard of Australia claimed the gold.
