Sports Mole rounds up all of Arsenal's latest injury and suspension news ahead of Tuesday's EFL Cup semi-final first leg against Newcastle United.
Sports Mole

Just 180 minutes away from a shot at silverware, Arsenal welcome Newcastle United to their Emirates home for the first leg of their EFL Cup semi-final on Tuesday night.

Mikel Arteta's men have seen off Bolton Wanderers, Preston North End and Crystal Palace to make the final four, most recently trumping the Eagles 3-2 in the last eight thanks to a Gabriel Jesus hat-trick.

Either Tottenham Hotspur or Liverpool will await in the final if Arsenal get the better of Newcastle over two legs, but the Gunners remain rank outsiders for Premier League glory after Saturday's 1-1 draw at Brighton & Hove Albion.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up all of Arsenal's latest injury and suspension news ahead of their clash with the Magpies, who defeated Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 in Saturday's early kickoff.

Ethan Nwaneri

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Muscle
Possible return date: January 7 (vs. Newcastle)

After scoring a historic opening goal at the Amex, Ethan Nwaneri was taken off at half time in what was believed to have been a precautionary change due to his yellow card. However, Arteta confirmed post-match that the 17-year-old had suffered a muscular injury, and it is incredibly unlikely that he will be fit for Tuesday's first leg.

Kai Havertz

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Illness
Possible return date: January 7 (vs. Newcastle)

Arteta initially expressed confidence that Kai Havertz would be back from illness in time for the trip to Brighton, but the German missed out once again and is facing a race against time to be fit for Tuesday's contest.

Bukayo Saka

Status: Out
Type of injury: Hamstring
Possible return date: Unknown

Bukayo Saka continues to watch on helplessly after undergoing a hamstring operation, one that is expected to keep the 23-year-old on the sidelines for another couple of months.

Raheem Sterling

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: January 12 (vs. Manchester United)

Raheem Sterling is expected to return to full training this week following a knee injury, and while Tuesday's game is expected to come too soon, there is a chance that he will return for the FA Cup third-round clash against Manchester United at the weekend.

Ben White

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: January 29 (vs. Girona)

Ben White is on the mend from the knee operation he underwent during the November international break, but he is ahead of schedule in his recovery and could return before the end of January.

Takehiro Tomiyasu

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: Unknown

Takehiro Tomiyasu is being put through his paces on the training pitches again after his second knee injury of the season, but the club are not putting any pressure on him to return imminently, and no timeframe has been put on his comeback yet.

ARSENAL'S SUSPENSION LIST

Arsenal have no players suspended for this match, as Jurrien Timber is back from the yellow-card ban he served in the Brighton draw.
