Team England athlete Matthew Hudson-Smith tells Sports Mole that there is plenty more to come from him following his breakthrough performance in the Glasgow Grand Prix.

Team England's Matthew Hudson-Smith has insisted that there is more to come from him following his breakthrough performance at the Glasgow Grand Prix earlier this month.

The 19-year-old shaved 0.83s off his personal best for the 400m at the event, recording the fastest British time and second-fastest European time over the distance this year.

Hudson-Smith will take part in the Commonwealth Games later this month before moving on to the European Championships in Switzerland having been something of a surprise selection for the latter.

"At the Grand Prix, even though the time was good, it wasn't really the best I've run. In training I've done a lot better. I think it was more the occasion where I was a bit apprehensive almost so I didn't take off [as much] as I should have," he told Sports Mole.

"There is definitely a lot more to come in the future. [The European Championships call-up is] a huge boost. I'm still a bit speechless with that.

"It's my dream track. At the start of the year I was watching the Butch Reynolds race where he broke the world record in Zurich and now I'm going to be at that track, so it's definitely something that I'm looking forward to."

This summer's Commonwealth Games take place between July 23 and August 3 in Glasgow.
