England's Greg Rutherford has defended comments he made regarding the Athletes' Village at the Commonwealth Games.
The 27-year-old, who qualified for the men's long jump final earlier today, hit out at "ignorant athletes" making too much noise in the camp earlier this week.
"I can't believe how I say one little thing and it gets blown out of proportion," Rutherford told reporters. "I think basically the issue is that the walls are paper thin, and so are the floors and ceilings, so you hear everything.
"So it was probably initially me getting used to that and being a little bit shocked by being woken up quite early, but I've got to get used to it. It's good practice. Hopefully I'll get a good night's sleep tonight and get ready for tomorrow."
Rutherford won a gold medal at the 2012 London Olympics.
