England sprinter Danny Talbot tells Sports Mole that he will learn from his seventh-place finish in the 200m final at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

Team England sprinter Danny Talbot has vowed to learn from his seventh-place finish in the men's 200m final at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games.

The 23-year-old qualified as the joint-second fastest on Wednesday, but struggled for a place on the podium tonight as he finished the final in 20.45s.

"It wasn't my best race, but it wasn't far off my personal best. I can't complain too much, but when you get to a championship final you want to execute the best race you can and unfortunately I didn't do that today," he told Sports Mole.

"It is a lesson learned, but it is a harsh place to learn lessons. I just have to move on to the Europeans now."

Jamaica claimed a one-two-three with Rasheed Dwyer, Warren Weir and Jason Livermore sealing gold, silver and bronze respectively, but Talbot believes that he is closer to the trio than the finishing positions suggest.

"They are not really that far ahead to be honest," Talbot added. "I feel like I should have been in the top three with them. In the heats and semis I was running the same times as them, I just couldn't in the final. I don't think that we are too far off.

"I am glad I made the final and I can take this into future championships."

Talbot's personal best time is 20.36s.
