Michael McKillop says that he owes his parents and roommate Jason Smyth a lot for his success.

Ireland's double Paralympic gold-medallist Michael McKillop has paid tribute to his parents and his "best friend" Jason Smyth after his T37 1500m gold medal.

The win gave McKillop his second gold of the Games and the Irishman said that he could not have achieved what he has without the support of his parents and fellow Paralympian Jason Smyth.

"My dad and my mum have got me to where I am today," McKillop said. "They've got me the best physios and treatment and I owe it all to them.

"Jason Smyth is my roommate and my best friend. He told me I was the best in the field so I believed him and I owe him a lot."

Smyth broke the T13 100m world record in his final on Saturday night.
