Usain Bolt has clarified comments he made about Glasgow prior to his first appearance at the Commonwealth Games.

The Jamaican appeared on track for the first time at Hampden Park on Friday night as he helped the 4x100m relay team secure a spot in Saturday's final, and he was keen to reveal his own side of an exchange with a journalist from The Times after he was reported to have criticised the area.

When asked if he was concerned about what reception he would receive in Glasgow, Bolt told reporter: "No, no, because it's a lie. I was never worried. I was just looking forward to coming out here, and showing the people that I'm here to have fun and here to compete and do my best performance.

"She asked me how the Games were and I said 'it's okay I haven't done much, I've just been in my room'. She was like 'is it fun?' and I was like 'I guess, because I haven't been out' and she interpreted that as saying it was shitty or whatever. So I didn't appreciate that but that's how journalists are. Sometimes."

Bolt has told Sports Mole he believes that England are Jamaica's main rivals for relay gold.
