Elaine Thompson-Herah has successfully defended her women's 100m Olympics title as Jamaica claimed a 1-2-3 in Tokyo.

The 29-year-old set a new Olympic record time of 10.61 seconds - the second fastest in history - for the gold, with two-time former champion Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce having to settle for silver with an impressive 10.74 seconds.

Teammate Shericka Jackson completed the clean sweep via a new personal best of 10.76 seconds.

Thompson-Herah now turns her attentions to defending her title over the 200m distance, with heats due to begin on Monday morning.

For Team GB, Daryll Neita ran a time of 11.12 seconds to finish in eighth place, having qualified for the final ahead of teammate Dina Asher-Smith earlier in the day.
