British sprinter Adam Gemili has confirmed that he wants to compete at this summer's London Olympics.
The 18-year-old ran 100 metres in 10.08 seconds - the fastest time recorded by any British athlete this year - on Saturday.
As he has now achieved the qualifying time for the Games, he will be guaranteed a place in the Team GB squad if he finishes in the top two at the trials in Birmingham, which begin on June 22.
Gemili, who is due to compete at the World Junior Championships trials in Bedford six days earlier, told the Daily Mail: "I'd love to go to the Olympics, but I don't want to run half-hearted at the trials.
"I need to go there in good form and confident that I can get through and qualify. I don't want to be tired from the week before."
In addition to his athletics exploits, Gemili is also a talented footballer and has spent time on the books of Chelsea, Reading and Dagenham & Redbridge.
