Paralympic silver medallist Kevan McNicholas believes that athletes competing in the Paralympic Games in London deserve the "exposure".

The 53-year-old, who won silver in the shot put at both the 1984 Games in Stoke Mandeville and the Seoul Games in South Korea in 1988, has claimed that he will be watching with pride.

"You just go back and know what it's like and what your feelings were like going into the opening ceremony in Seoul. We were all together," the Yorkshire Evening Post quotes McNicholas as saying.

"I think it's getting the exposure it deserves as these people are now athletes, not just people having a go and that's how they should be looked at first."

McNicholas became a Paralympian after he was left paralysed from the chest down in 1979 following a motorcycle accident.
