British sprinter James Dasaolu believes that a consistent year in 2014 can help him make an impact against the world's best this summer.

Dasaolu stormed to 100m gold in the European Championships in Zurich, but ahead of the World Championships in Beijing, he has acknowledged that he will need to continue his development in order to challenge the sport's elite.

The 27-year-old told The Telegraph: "2014 was a European year so the level wasn't as high and I didn't have to push as much as in 2013 which was a World Championship year.

"It was a consistent year. I think I ran within about five-hundredths of a second in every race.

"I was happy to win the European title but now it's 2015, it's time to see where I fare against the rest of the world."

Dasaolu will be looking to improve on his personal best of 9.91 seconds, which came at the British trials in 2013.
