South African Paralympic sprinter Oscar Pistorius admits that he was wrong to criticise the IPC moments after Alan Oliveira snatched gold in the T44 200m final.

South African Paralympic sprinter Oscar Pistorius has apologised for the timing of his outburst against the International Paralympic Committee.

The 25-year-old hit out at the governing body following his T44 200m final defeat to Alan Oliveira last night.

The former 200m title holder claimed that the Brazilian's artificial legs, known as blades, were too long and called on the IPC to address the matter in the future.

"I want to apologise for the timing of my comments but I do believe that there is an issue here," Pistorius said in a statement.

"I accept that raising these concerns immediately as I stepped off the track was wrong. That was Alan's moment and I would like to put on record the respect I have for him.

"I am a proud Paralympian and believe in the fairness of sport. I am happy to work with the IPC who obviously share these aims."

Oliveira was 0.7 seconds faster than his South African opponent, clinching him the gold medal.
