Defending champion Christine Ohuruogu qualified for the semi-finals of the women's 400m this afternoon.
The 28-year-old got off to a slow start on her home track. However, she produced greater pace during the closing 200m to move to the front of the field.
She eased up in the final few metres though, which allowed America's Francesca McCorory to win the heat in a time of 50.78s.
Kenya's Joy Nakhumicha Sakari took the final automatic qualifying spot.
