Day seven of the Olympic Games promises more drama for Great Britain as the athletics competition finally begins.

The Olympic Stadium finally get its chance to join the fun and games of London 2012 on Friday as the athletics competition gets underway.

Cyclists Bradley Wiggins and Chris Hoy have ensured that Great Britain's track and field stars have some work to do to earn their place in the spotlight.

10.05am - Athletics: Heptathlon

Jessica Ennis dominates day seven as her bid for gold in the heptathlon begins. She starts at 10.05am with the 100m hurdles before moving to the high jump at 11.05am.

Ennis gets a rest during the afternoon before the shot put at 7.00pm and high jump at 8.45pm round off a punishing programme.

12.10pm - Rowing: Women's double sculls

Great Britain's duo of Katherine Grainger and Anna Watkins have a realistic medal chance in the women's double sculls at Eton Dorney. Grainger has three Olympic silver medals as she looks to finally bring home the gold.

3.00pm - Tennis: Andy Murray vs. Novak Djokovic

Andy Murray has a tough match against formidable Serb Novak Djokovic in the men's quarter-finals as he looks to book a second final appearance at Wimbledon in as many months.

6.38pm - Cycling: Women's keirin final

Victoria Pendleton will hope to put the disappointment of Thursday's team event behind her as she aims for gold in the women's Keirin event.

Pendleton will have to get through the qualifying round to make the final, which is due to begin at 4.00pm.

7.45pm - Swimming: Women's 800m freestyle final

Rebecca Adlington will hope to add to her bronze medal from the 400m as she tackles her favourite event.

The Brit comes up against arch-rival Lotte Friis in what promises to be a classic encounter.

7.45pm - Football: Women's quarter-finals

Hope Powell's girls face Canada in Coventry as the women's football tournament reaches the knockout stage.

9.15pm - Boxing: Round of 16

Great Britain's Andrew Selby goes up against Ilyas Suleimenov of Kazakhstan in the bout of the evening at the Excel Arena.

Team GB also has interest in the afternoon session, with welterweight Fred Evans due to face Lithuanian opposition at 3.15pm
