Great Britain's 10,000m champion Mo Farah has qualified for Saturday's 5,000m final by finishing the opening heat in third position.
Farah kept himself in the bunch during the leisurely early stages of the race before moving to the front with two laps to go.
However, Hayle Ibrahimov of Azerbaijan broke clear at the bell and was followed by Kenya's Isiah Kiplangat Koech at the front.
Farah was dropped to fifth position but he managed to finish strongly to ensure a top-five finish and book his place in the final, which begins at around 7.30pm on Saturday evening.
