Mo Farah's coach is happy with the way preparations for the 5,000m final are going as Farah looks to become a double Olympic champion.

Mo Farah's coach has said that he is happy with the way preparations for the 5,000m final are going.

Farah will be looking to become a double Olympic champion, having become the first British man to ever win gold in the 10,000m last weekend.

Farah's coach Alberto Salazar believes that, despite having only three days to recover, both Farah and 10,000m silver medallist Galen Rupp could benefit from having run both races.

"I'm delighted with the way Mo and Galen have recovered from the race. They've had no bad fatigue or no soreness, they both slept really well the last couple of nights and are probably feeling a lot fresher than before they went into the 10k," said Salazar.

"I don't believe they've suffered any deficit from their performances in the 10k, and I've seen it before that sometimes athletes feel much fresher a few days after a hard effort after a period of tapering down which can make them feel sluggish.

"If anything they are both physically and psychologically in better shape. The pressure is off. It's not as though they don't want to do well in the 5000m, just that they've already got a great achievement under their belts and they're feeling fresher and more relaxed now than they were. I'm very happy with how they're both doing."

Farah could emulate Ethiopia's Kenenisa Bekele in winning both long distance titles at the same Games.
