Great Britain's T44 100m Paralympic champion Jonnie Peacock has claimed that he could have gone quicker, despite winning gold in a Paralympic record time of 10.90s tonight.

Peacock, just 19 years old, also paid tribute to the "crazy" crowd who spurred him on to beat the fast field, including South African Oscar Pistorius.

"I knew this crowd was going to be intense," Peacock said. "I knew the crowd would be on a high from [watching David] Weir. I didn't think it was going to be quite that crazy!

"I was really annoyed with my start yesterday. This time I knew I could push. I had my head down for so long, my drive phase was as good as it has ever been. I got up to 60 or 70 metres and thought 'I could win this'.

"[However] I've been training really hard the past few weeks and I should have run quicker tonight."

Peacock's gold was Great Britain's 31st of the Games so far. They have now overtaken the Russian Federation into second place behind China.
