Great Britain's Jo Pavey overcomes an illness to win the Bupa London 10,000 race and claim the British 10km road title.

Great Britain's Jo Pavey managed to recover from an illness to win the Bupa London 10,000 and scoop the British 10km road title on Monday.

The 41-year-old, who won European 10,000m gold last year, felt sick the night before, but decided to compete after undergoing a warm-up.

The long-distance runner managed to cross the finish line in 32 minutes, 56 seconds, while 20-year-old Rebecca Murray came second.

"It was a real gamble to run but I'm so glad I did," BBC Sport quotes Pavey as saying. "To win after a night like that is surreal."

Andy Vernon, 29, won the men's race in a personal best time of 28 minutes, 38 seconds.
