Great Britain's Mo Farah earns his fourth Olympic title after producing another 'double-double' by claiming gold in the men's 5,000m final in the 2016 Olympics in Rio.

Great Britain's Mo Farah became only the second male Olympian to defend both the 5,000m and 10,000m titles after producing a dominant display in the 5,000m final to take gold in Rio this evening.

The Ethiopian team had clearly hatched a sensible plan early on as they aimed to increase the speed of the initial laps in an attempt to put some pressure on Farah from the start of the contest.

Farah appeared unmoved at the prospect of a heightened pace and he stuck to his plans, as he made safe progress into the middle of the pack alongside fellow Briton Andrew Butchart with seven laps remaining.

The Ethiopian unit were unable to maintain the early pace set in the opening laps and Farah soon made his move into first position where he put down anchor with three-and-a-half laps left.

Going into the business end with two laps remaining, Farah continued to assert his authority at the front and he stepped up through the gears during the final 400 metres to leave the pack in his wake.

The gold represents Farah's fourth Olympic title, which is the highest number achieved on the track by any British athlete.
