Great Britain's Shelayna Oskan-Clarke has insisted that she was always confident in her ability to run sub-two minutes in the 800m.
The 25-year-old produced a huge personal best time of 1:58.86 to earn a surprise place in the final at the World Athletics Championships - the first major championships of her career.
After holding off the challenge of Renelle Lamote and Olha Lyakhova on the line, Oskan-Clarke revealed that she knew she could break the two-minute barrier, despite being the only runner in her heat not to have done it before the race began.
"I was fighting all the way trying to get myself into the right position. I felt strong and said to myself 'come on, push, push, push'," she told BBC Sport.
"I knew I could run under two minutes. I'm so happy and my coach has been saying I could do it for ages. To be in a final sounds amazing. I just want to take each race as it comes and I knew the fitness was there."
Oskan-Clarke's British teammates Jenny Meadows and Lynsey Sharp both failed to make the final in Beijing.
