With her second attempt, the 22-year-old safely secured her passage into the next stage with a leap of 6.79m to redeem herself following her heptathlon woes earlier in the tournament.
The Liverpudlian failed to register a legitimate jump from three efforts last Sunday with costly errors that effectively ended her chances of a medal, having picked up no points in the event.
GB teammate Lorraine Ugen will join her in the final after she pulled 6.87m out of the bag with a final attempt to snatch her place in dramatic fashion.
Meanwhile, Shara Proctor made it a treble celebration as she qualified in 11th place with a score of 6.68m.
Johnson-Thompson finished second in this morning's qualifier behind Serbia's Ivana Spanovic, who set the bar with 6.91m - the highest score from both heats.
