Great Britain head coach Charles van Commenee has bemoaned the men's 4x100m relay team's failure to finish the World Athletics Championships final.
American third-leg runner Darvis Patton clipped Britain's fourth-leg runner Harry Aikines-Aryeetey at the changeover, a collision which resulted in Marlon Devonish being unable to hand Aryeetey the baton.
"From my perspective it looked like Harry went way too early," said the coach.
"I'm struggling to understand always why that baton can't get round."
Aikines-Areetey later moved to defend himself and is quoted as saying: "I don't think I went too soon.
"I felt someone hit me and then saw someone tumble over. As to why Marlon [Devonish] couldn't get the baton to me, I've no idea."
The United States of America also failed the finish the race following Patton's fall.
