British number one Rajiv Ouseph's has failed to reach the knockout rounds of the Olympic badminton singles after losing to Guatemala's Kevin Cordon.
The Brit began well and managed to reach the first game interval with an 11-9 lead, despite dropping from a four-point advantage in the opening exchanges.
Ouseph grabbed the lead again and put himself in contention for the next round after clinching the opening set 21-12.
Ouseph continued his domination in the second set but it was not without some concern as Cordon fought back with a host of net shots to keep himself in contention.
Cordon forced the tie into a third and final set after clinching the second and the Guatemala professional made it hard work for the British number one, who struggled to take the lead.
Despite a tough challenge, Ouseph couldn't force through a victory for the Brits and Cordon took the match 21-19 to progress into the final 16.
