The Los Angeles Dodgers pulled off a magnificent Game 5 turnaround against the New York Yankees to clinch the 2024 World Series title with a 4-1 series triumph at the Yankee Stadium.
The National League champions led 3-0 after three games but were denied a sweep over the New York franchise, whose 11-4 success in Game 4 extended the World Series for at least one more game.
However, the Yankees could not repeat their Game 4 trick in the Bronx on Wednesday, as they blew a 5-0 lead in a 6-7 loss to the Dodgers, who became World Series champions for the eighth time.
The Yankees came out firing as star man Aaron Judge and Jazz Chisholm Jr propelled the American League champions into a 3-0 lead in the first inning, before Anthony Volpe and Giancarlo Stanton increased the hosts' advantage.

Multiple fielding errors then proved fatal for the Yankees, though, as the Dodgers levelled the scores in the fifth inning before Stanton's sacrifice fly allowed Juan Soto to propel the New York outfit back into the lead.
The Dodgers ensured that the Yankees' series fightback effort was futile, though, as two further sacrifice flies saw the LA outfit assume control of Game 5 again en route to an eighth World Series title.
The Dodgers' 2024 triumph marked their first World Series win since the COVID-affected 2020 campaign, as well as ending a 36-year full-season streak without victory since also conquering the league in the 1988 campaign.
Freddie Freeman also took home the World Series MVP prize on the back of recording four home runs and 12 runs batted in during the five-game success.
